ShareMe helps people plan trips and share plans, places, photos, expenses and memories with their chosen travel groups. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use ShareMe.

1. Personal information

When you create and use a ShareMe account, we may process information such as:

• Your name.
• Your email address.
• Your ShareMe profile.
• Your profile image or initials.
• Your ShareMe tag.
• Your account identifier.
• Your friend and group connections.

2. Trips and groups

We process information that you choose to add to ShareMe, including group names, destinations, trip dates, group members, plans, suggestions, votes, places, map pins and shared expenses.

3. Photos and videos

ShareMe may request access to your device's photo library when you choose to upload a photo or video.

You choose which photos or videos you share. ShareMe does not require access to your entire photo library in order to use the rest of the app.

Photos and videos that you upload may be stored so they can be displayed to members of the ShareMe group in which you chose to share them.

Other group members may be able to view, like and comment on shared content.

4. Comments, likes and other interactions

We may process comments, captions, likes, suggestions, votes and other interactions so these features can operate within your ShareMe groups.

5. Location information

Some ShareMe features may use location information to help you discover nearby cafés, restaurants, activities and places, or to provide map-related functionality.

Location access depends on the permissions you give through your device. You can change or disable location permission through your device settings.

6. How we use your information

We use information where necessary to:

• Create and maintain your ShareMe account.
• Allow you to create and participate in group trips.
• Store and display information you choose to share.
• Provide shared photo functionality.
• Provide plans, suggestions and voting.
• Provide shared expense functionality.
• Provide maps and place recommendations.
• Provide relevant notifications.
• Maintain the security and reliability of ShareMe.
• Respond to support and privacy requests.

7. Sharing within groups

Information you choose to add to a ShareMe group is intended to be visible to members of that group.

This may include your name, photos, comments, likes, trip information, plans, suggestions, places and expense information.

ShareMe does not sell your personal information.

8. Third-party services

ShareMe uses third-party services where necessary to operate certain features.

These may include cloud infrastructure, authentication, database storage, maps, location discovery, place recommendations and image services.

Depending on the feature, ShareMe may use services including Lovable Cloud / Supabase-compatible infrastructure, Foursquare and Unsplash.

Third-party providers may process information necessary to provide the functionality requested by the user.

9. Notifications

ShareMe may provide notifications relating to activity within your groups, including photos, comments, likes, plans and suggestions.

Notification permissions can be controlled through your device and available ShareMe settings.

10. Data retention

We retain account information and user content for as long as reasonably necessary to operate ShareMe, maintain your account and meet legitimate security or legal requirements.

Information that is no longer required may be deleted or anonymised.

11. Your privacy choices

You may:

• Choose what information and photos you share.
• Change device permissions.
• Edit or remove content where ShareMe provides that functionality.
• Change notification settings.
• Request access to personal information associated with your account.
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

12. Account and data deletion

You may request deletion of your ShareMe account through available account or Privacy settings or by contacting us.

Personal information that is no longer required will be deleted or anonymised, subject to legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention and record-keeping obligations.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as ShareMe develops or where applicable requirements change.
